Welcome
Lean On Me is a Canadian not-for-profit organization that works toward creating peaceful communities and supporting individuals who have had their lives transformed by violence. The organization was established in 2007 by a group of people who had such an experience - they all had experienced the death of a loved one due to homicide.
Initially, the Lean On Me founding family members started as grassroots and worked with Victim Services Managers and Coordinators to create the first group of its kind in Ontario's Golden Horseshoe area. This group of people together had a true vision to be of service to many others and let other families know that they are not alone, and the name Lean On Me was established. From that first group Lean On Me has grown and continues to grow to help others in need. No one is turned away if they are in need - if we are too far for someone to physically join us, they can still stay connected as a member and we will help them find alternative services close to their home if they need assistance with this. They can also contact us to receive training on how to run a group in their area.
Every homicide has "collateral damage" - impacting the immediate family and friends as well as the lives of countless others in the community, causing severe stress and anxiety which can sometimes lead to physical illness. Our goal is to provide practical and emotional support and resources, along with opportunities for members to improve their spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental well-being.
Another 12-week therapeutic support group starts soon.
All who are interested are invited to contact us now.
